SmartData Collective is looking for a Community Manager. I really like the work they are doing and if you are interested in data, analytics, BI etc this could be a fun gig. They are looking for someone who can handle: Original content and content strategy: Interviews with thought leaders (skype or in person) Coverage of events [...]
Jim Harris of the OCDQ Blog (Obsessive-Compulsive Data Quality) interviewed me for his OCDQ radio show recently and the podcast is now live – check it out on his blog. In the interview Jim and I discuss the whys and wherefores of Decision Management, the four principles of Decision Management Systems and the three legged [...]
I am going through an update on the blog – hopefully you can already see a cleaner look. Over the next few weeks I will be upgrading the home page and improving the navigation etc. Let me know if you have any feedback (email@example.com) and if you have features/styles you like please send me a [...]
I have been working with some folks in the NE who have launched a new technology article portal – e-technologymanagement.com.This has a number of focus areas, notably SOA, Agile and Decision Management (in which I am involved, obviously). The portal is just getting started so check it out and subscribe to the feed. You can [...]
That’s it for me – off to the mountains this week. More posts in the new year. Meanwhile don’t forget to change your feed over to feeds.feedburner.com/jtonedm. Happy Holidays.
Just a quick reminder that if you want to keep reading the blog in 2009 you will need to change your feed from feeds.feedburner.com/smartenoughsystems to http://feeds.feedburner.com/jtonedm. For now it is automatically redirecting but that will only last a couple more weeks.
I upgraded to Wordpress 2.7 this weekend plus I removed some categories and replaced them with tags (to shorten the category list), added a tag cloud (lower right column) and fixed problems with the images. If you find any problems, drop me a line.
Well as you might have noticed I have a new blog location – jtonedm.com (JT on EDM). The blog on smartenoughsystems.com/wp is now retired and all the posts will redirect here. If you have a link to the smartenoughsystems blog please move it – just replace smartenoughsystems.com/wp with jtonedm.com (note the dropping of the /wp).
Well I am off to the mountains for a vacation with no email, no cell phone, no twitter and no blogging. I have queued up some posts for you so you won’t miss me too much but don’t expect a reply until after the 25th. Have fun
The folks over at b-eye network have a video blog with answers to questions submitted by readers – the Ask an Expert Video Blog. This looks like a fun way to get an answer to any BI, data or analytic decision making question you might have. If you have something you want to discuss, go [...]
Laura Ramos of Forrester just published a nice report on blogging – How To Derive Value From B2B Blogging. It’s a nice little report (well worth $379 ) and in it she lays out four compelling ways to derive value from a corporate blog: Strategy One: Be A Conversation Starter, Not A Spoiler In particular [...]
Ade McCormack, author of The IT Value Stack (reviewed previously) and columnist at the FT in England, just reviewed the book for this blog. You can read his review of Smart (Enough) Systems over on his blog.

A couple of companies I follow had interesting announcements today. First Attensity announced its new “Market Voice” product designed to allow automatic analysis of blogs, forums, reviews and other kinds of customer-generated content. The idea is to bring this information into the same environment as internal unstructured information so it can be analyzed as part [...]
I am at the Forrester IT Forum and I will be blogging live from as many sessions as I can. I am participating in some (so the post may be delayed) and there is no power in the keynote room so I may be reduced to writing notes and typing it up later! There is [...]
I discovered over the weekend that there is a game called “What’s On Page 123” that involves bloggers tagging each other. As Ken Molay, an old friend who writes the Webinar blog tagged me I now have to post to keep it going. The deal is that you have to write about the book you [...]
I have read Vinnie Mirchandani’s blog “the deal architect” for a while now and thoroughly enjoyed many of his posts. When he asked me to write a guest post I jumped at the chance and today you can find “The Real Deal: James Taylor on Raising Your Enterprise Application IQ” on his blog. Vinnie’s blog [...]
Tony, over on the Decision Support Analytics blog, is running an interesting competition and the prizes have just improved – Neil and I offered a signed copy of our book to add to his list of potential prizes. You can check out the details here. I plan to write a couple of entries soon and [...]
Well installing Wordpress 2.5 seemed to change a setting and I just noticed that all my posts since then had comments disabled! Sorry about that, should be fixed now so comment away!
