I am giving a workshop tutorial at BBC 2015 on Business Analysis and Architecture with Decision Modeling Monday November 2, 1:30pm:

The proven technique of decision modeling is fast becoming the go-to approach for extending business architectures and system requirements to include business decisions. Modeling business decisions as peers to business processes is central to accurately conceptualizing, describing and building agile, analytic and adaptive information systems. These new generation information systems deliver effective business operations, straight through processing and analytically improved operations.

The new Decision Model and Notation (DMN) standard and the inclusion of Decision Modeling in the BABOK® v3 give Business Analysts, Business Architects and Enterprise Architects the tools they need to describe and model decisions.

      • Decision modeling provides a business oriented structure for business rules analysis, reducing complexity, shortening project times and enabling re-use across projects.
      • Decision modeling speeds up processes and workflow so local exceptions don’t slow down the process.
      • Decision modeling focuses BI and analytic projects, identifying where analytic insight is required, the data needed and a targeted deployment approach.
      • Decision modeling allows visual partitioning to drive phase-wise implementation and a logical structure for project management

This tutorial takes you through the construction of decision requirements model using DMN and shows how these models are used for requirements and as a key component in a business architecture.

What you will learn:

    • The elements of decision requirements models
    • Notation based on the DMN standard
    • Best practices for identifying, describing and modeling decisions
    • Lessons learned using decision requirements models
    • Use cases for applying decision requirements models in analysis and business architecture

You can register for the workshop and conference here (use SPKLV15 for a 15% discount on Conference Passports).
