However, some CEP applications output events to just a dashboard, external BPM, decision services, etc. Some CEP tools are also quite immature re "decision management" versus many (synchronous event oriented) BRMS offerings. I recommend the twitterers check out the EPTS CEP Glossary for further guidance. Or join the EPTS Symposium in 2 weeks for an update on use cases, terminology and architectures.
