In answer to your comment in Exit Paths, TIBCO's BPM Suite (TIBCO iProcess Suite) that has its origins in the products acquired as part of the Staffware acquisition continue to be maintained and enhanced. Indeed TIBCO iProcess Suite 11.0 was released last month (May 2008). The product names may have changed to reflect their current ownership but they are very much alive.

SOA came up a fair bit but, unsurprisingly, in the context of BPM. There were still some folks there adopting BPM without an explicit focus on SOA but not many - most were taking an SOA "platform" for granted. Intalio is clearly focused on broadening its platform reach with partnerships around ESBs, Document Management etc and I think more explicit SOA support is likely too.

Glad to hear of Ismael's and Intalio's succcesses; as I mentioned before, I was part of an IT architecture group in SF back in 2000-2001 that met with Ismael about the product, and I attended an early user conference back then in San Diego. Unfortunately, my time with my then-employer came to an end and I lost track of Intalio, did not know it had re-grouped as you have described.

It just came to mind that having read a few of these posts, I can't recall SOA being mentioned. Is that something that was discussed? Are we 'beyond SOA' now?

(My IT architecture group was also in on the ground-floor with BEA in its early days, not my area of expertise, but I hope the principle people did well in the takeover.)

"Now that Oracle has dropped support for BEA/Fuego"? Reorganizing an acquired company's product line under the Oracle brands does not constitute dropping support for those products -- I think that you spent too much time drinking Ismael's Kool-Aid in San Francisco this week. :)
